Does this sport exists outside the US ?
The closest international sport I can see (from very far) is the Rugby.

Silly old me, and I always thought, clever tactics, impressive runs and nearly impossible pass receptions where, "what football is all about", and not people getting hurt.

I think while ever the helmets are coming off it's fine, when the first helmet comes off with the head inside that's the time to look a little more closely at the rules.

US women play soccer pretty well though, have you noticed? Didn't your women get beat by Japan in the world cup?

#11 No offence taken,but you might notice that pipi asked if I wanted to get into what the US has won in soccer so I had to bring up the world cup win,and that is their third. For the US to win anything in a game that we modified and made better (American football) a hundred years ago by adding throwing and tackling is astounding to me. For an European country to win is what I would expect , or maybe a South American country like Brazil.
You are right that most Americans don't care a bit about soccer except when their children play it at school or our national team is playing well in a world cup or Olympics (where the women have won 4 gold's). Men here tend to play a more crowd- pleasing action sport like the NFL or Pro basketball.

#12 Football itself is a modified version of ancient sports. Why do americans say things like "we made it better". Plus, assuming only south american teams win football titles is yet another proof that you know little about football - as in, that silly sport that everybody else in the world plays.

Nothing I said has been refuted or shown to be inaccurate by anyone so far and it is amusing to see you take the bait and go off on a brown nosing defense of Sizz who is perfectly capable of debate on his own.
You think soccer is great, the vast majority of Americans prefer the NFL as demonstrated by #16 and I do not know a single person who ever bothers to watch soccer if they have another choice. Even at the Buffalo Wild Wings sports bar I go to there were not many soccer fans watching the world cup games except to see if the US team could win it again, and if that sounds nationalistic then that's just fine.
