I get reverting to records/LP's but I don't remember cassettes sounding all that great. Better than 8-tracks but not as good as the record.
Can't beat the portability and convenience of MP3's and the iPod where thousands of songs fit onto a 1.5x3" unit and really most of us cannot tell the difference if the quality is at least decent especially through earbuds.
Amazing to see though, glad they are fired up and finding customers.

It'll probably only be temporary, as the younger generations most likely don't want to deal with tapes, etc...I got rid of all old LPs years ago and tapes as well...prefer the convenience of MP3s. Interesting video though..

Why they have warmer sounds? Say you have bits and bytes, 0s and 1s. The music can therefore be compared with walking a stair. If you have these or LP, the sound curve is smooth, or at least smoother.

The LP market is making a big comeback, cassettes were never in the same league unless you used the highest quality such as TDK SA or SAx but even then you needed the best cassette decks to match the tape. At the end of the day the drawback of cassettes is the narrowness of the tape itself and the fact that it only travels past the tape head at 1.78 inches per second and only half of the thickness is used per side of the tape and that half is halved again for left and right channel. The El Cassette by Sony (which most people have never heard of) would have been a winner traveling at 3 & 3/4 ips and on a wider tape but it was too expensive and came too late.
For quality and sexiness you need open reel (7 inch or 10inch) metal spools traveling at 7 and a half inches per second on half inch tape. Superb analogue sound and looked great in the dark with the yellow VU meters tripping into the red zone occasionally.
I have open reel, A Transcriptors turntable, Kef 104 speakers all 70's based and the sound compared to CD and MP3's is full of life and soul. The convenience of IPod's is amazing but if you were to sit and listen to what you are missing you would be amazed.

When a CD-hype started I remember a guy in a shopping malls offering a "blind" tape vs CD test. It was some high-end dolby-whatever three head deck. Sure, with the shopping mall background noise and properly selected record it wasn't easy to tell which one was tape/CD. That was one of the last attempts not to let the tape die. If one just realizes that all the complicated mechanics to get the music out the tape has been replaced by one small chip... amazing and sad at once.

As someone who grew up using records, reel to reels, 8 tracks, cassettes, and cds.
I now have over 700 songs on MY phone and computer with back ups on a small thumb drive. No more lugging around a hundred lbs of stuff and only wanting hear maybe 1 or 2 songs on an album...Now I can listen to any song I want within a minute. For those who want to bring back lps and tapes...been there/done that...No Thanks

#7#8#9 I'm only saying that music is more than how small you can condense it's storage. Sure you can get a billion tracks on an IPod but it is sterile it has no heart no soul. Going to a bit of trouble to play your album is no bad thing. Why bother going to see a band live when you can call it up on your mp3 it's the experience. #8 If you ever lugged around a hundred lbs of lps you needed to get a lounge to listen to them in. By the sound of it you now only listen to your music through headphones no comparison to a good pair of loudspeakers.

I wonder if they are still going 7 years on. I also wonder if they are where the actual raw materials are coming from.
