Search for what the clock looked like and what the clock was in. If it wasn't a clock the teacher would be called a hero. Either way everyone that stands or doesn't stand with this kid wasn't there to know how it all went down. Whatever :squirrel:

This vid was the first story that came out but it turns out the kid did not "make" the clock, it was a thirty year old Radio Shack digital clock that he disassembled and modified to be a countdown clock. He showed it to his first bell teacher who asked him why he made it and told him to put it in his locker till school was over. Instead he took it to his next class and set it to count down, so the teacher took action because clocks don't count down....bombs do. His older sister was involved in the whole prank and the boy is not some young genius.

That's right #3 and on top of that the school had a freakin threat 3 years prior to this bs. Welcome to high school punk!

Thats how terrorists work..they go to the teacher or police and show them instead of just try to blow it up. And he made it for his engineering class..no teacher around with a little bit of knowlege to see that there are no explosives? And if nobody could see that..why wasnt the school evacuated and the bomb defusal guys came? Instead the little boy got handcuffed..for what? In case he goes rampage against officers with his muscular body?
Point at a bag in a public space and scream "I think its a bomb" and see what happens.
Not trying to pull a race card here..but i really wonder what would had happen if a white kid would show that to a teacher "look..i rebuild a clock"

America seems scared shitless for no real reason..gun sales must explode. (and i know i will get at least 4 thumbs down for that comment..and i know who it will be already)

#3 "clocks don't count down....bombs do", wow, thanks for the heads up mate, i have a bomb in my kitchen and i had no idea, they sold it to me in form of a microwave...

It's pretty simple. All schools in the US have rules against bringing any kind of weapon facsimile to school. That's exactly what this was. It looked more like a bomb than a clock. All of the people who would put political correctness over the lives of school children are insane. The kid didn't even "invent" it like he keeps falsely claiming. Also, highly educated people had difficulty figuring out what it was on appearance alone so the school did the right thing by being safe rather than sorry.

#7 What an ignorant argument that is. Have you seen the pencil box with all the wiring hanging out of it that the boy took to class saying he had made it himself? It doesn't look anything like a microwave or even an egg timer, mate.

#9 oh, really? :)
when i was a kid my hobby was electronic, and as every kid who love electronics i've disassembled many devices and home appliances creating new ones from remaining parts, like fm radio transmitters from old radio, or ionizer from old tv parts...

so what is your point exactly, that the kid is a terrorist because he built a timer?
if so, is he a terrorist because he built a timer, or is he a terrorists because his name is ahmed?

People often misuse the word "invention".

INVENTION : U.S. Patent Law - a new, useful process, machine, improvement, etc., that did not exist previously and that is recognized as the product of some unique intuition or genius, as distinguished from ordinary mechanical skill or craftsmanship.

I attended electronic engineering university, and one of my hobbies is creating all sorts of things just like the kid Ahmed does, but I can't call myself an inventor or say that I invent stuff.

I don't wanna bash on the little kid, but I did some research and here's exactly what he did:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHk_6Vh4Qeo

Of course things like this get viral on web like crazy, and also people with very good knowledge in the field analyzed in depth the situation and observed the same thing: in terms of "invention" it's really a big stretch. A good example here is famous evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins.

Here's another good example from a well known Engineer from University of California that shows how the clock is not "invented" by him, (he also explains why it is a hoax): https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=5&v=CEmSwJTqpgY

The teacher got scared and acted this way because his clock was not showing time and was counting down, speculating that it might be a bomb.

I prefer to remain impartial here, but most regular people will say it looks like a bomb.

What I'm against to is the fact that he claimed he "INVENTED" the clock to impress the teacher, but by far he haven't invented anything, and also he did something VERY dangerous: the clock is using a transformer since it doesnt need high voltage in order to work, but the transformer is under high voltage and it was EXPOSED with no protection whatsoever , and if someone from the class touched it, he would be most likely electrocuted and possibly even killed... also exposed high voltage components are a dangerous fire hazard, and it could have started a fire in the school.

Also I just remembered: when I was in high school, I used to participate to lots of science fairs and did this kind of "inventions" for science class. When I was in 10th grade, I did something that looked very similar to what Ahmed did, but had a different purpose: a device made out of a landline phone that when called, it can trigger a switch using an electrical relay. That switch can be used to turn off or on house lights, or a pump for a water sprinkler in your garden for example. One of the teachers kept telling me it looks like a bomb >:) and to be honest, it kinda did >:) I'll ask my dad if I still have that somewhere at his house and take a picture of it, and if he does I'll post a link with the picture with the thing :D

Firstly let me say I am not anti Muslim. If that's your thing go with it. But this kid is a dick. This was a total set up to make the school and authorities look anti Islamic. The kids dad is some kind of Islamic activist. Have you seen a picture of the "clock"? It counts backwards, was in a briefcase kind of affair and looks, well, like a bomb. The school may have overreacted but the kid must have expected a reaction. He was told by one teacher to put it away and never get it out again yet goes into his next class, gets it out and sets it counting down. He should think himself lucky some over zealous Texas cop didn't blow him away.

#14 It was later found out as shown on the news that his father is a well known political stuntman who even named his trucking company "twin towers transportation" (mocking 9/11 possibly ? ) .
Picture of Urmensch44 achievements

#15 Maybe the kid didn't make the clock but that stuff about mocking 9/11 is bullshit.
It is being passed around like it is true on all the right-wing sites.
I did a little checking myself. I'm in the UK and I was still able to find this:
http://www.corporationwiki.com/p/2fj933/teshome-debela

That link shows that there is a company, one of whose directors is Aldean Mohamed, and that name came up in reports as the uncle, and not the father of the boy. The company's address is 8585 N Stemmons Fwy Dallas, TX 75247

Go there on Google maps and guess what you find? The premises of the business are in a building called Twin Towers.

So if you really want to reach, you're going to have to claim that the uncle opened a business in a place with twin towers, called Twin Towers, in order to mock 9/11.

As far as I can make out, it's all wandering into nutjob illuminati conspiracy country, but with Muslims.

Edit: I took out a url I'd added for the Twin Towers because it borked the comment and didn't work. To confirm what I say just use that address in Texas in Google maps and you'll even get photos of the place.

Guys, He claimed this is his invention
He did not invent this clock, its all the fire on twitter right now but he degutted a clock that was from radioshock and put it into a case. People are calling it a scam, heated debates are going back and forth. The real reason why hes getting all these free trips and shit is because there was racial tension against him and he's just a kid but it leaves other children who deserves white house visit and mit visit left hanging over this and people wondering. Wheres our white house visits for our b.s

I personally think the kid is trying to get a reaction, he made a count down clock was told to put it away only to take it out in class and have it count down while in a brief case. Not sure why he did this but it is not very smart.
I think the school did the right by not taking any chances. Some of the Lebanese Muslim kids in Australia do these types of stunts not only to get a reaction but to show hate. luckily they are the minority and most people don't fall for their BS.

Why are some of you talking about him being a terrorist? He is a kid who was trying to make news by taking a bomb look-a-like to school, probably with his dad's approval and his sister's help. That part of Texas is having problems with Muslims pushing for more special rights and recognition and this hoax was supposed to highlight their "plight " . Criminal charges may be brought against the family if indeed it was an orchestrated hoax.
