why look in the past, we can just open the news and look at the Syrian people get killed have their home demolished on them, hundreds years from now how they will look back to our history

She never says if her father,who was a POW,survived the war and if she ever saw him again.

#5 her father, the journalist and author Robert Christophe (1907-1983), was a prisoner of war and, even though he was jewish, was under the protection of the Genever Convention, which the Nazis, oddly enough, adhered to in general. The fact that her father was a POW even granted her family the "privilege" to go to the camp Bergen-Belsen, where prisoners were held for exchange-deals, and not to an extermination-camp. The family was able to maintain contact by mail most of the time and was reunited after the war ended.

I am impressed that there are still survivors of the holocaust left to tell the story and that some of them will be around for at least a decade. Some of them, like Francine Christophe don't even appear to be that old.

#5 It's nice you looked up more information on this. Glad to hear this story had such a good ending, the family reunited after the war, not necessarily a very common occurrence then.

Just one of so many incredible stories. One of the other ones I remember ( having seen it on a tv programme here in the UK "That's life" presented by Esther Rantzen). It was about Sir Nicholas Winton who managed to save a pretty large number of children by having them sent to the UK.

he never wailed, that's when he was born, we took him back to France, references she made about the baby but was given chocolate from a lady?
