This is in effect an ad for the weed business.

I strongly believe that weed has little to no effect on your brain in the short run.
I believe even stronger that using it for a prolonged time (2+ years) it will keep doing massive harm to your brain.

Sadly those using it will just focus on my first sentence and will not even try to understand the long term workings. You will hear statements like: Alcohol is way more harmful, which is actually true, in the short run! And i'll get downvoted for my opinion, because something that makes you feel good cannot be bad.

Seriously? The doctor doesn't have to be in the same physical room as you in order to give you that card? Then all average actors and liars can get it without medical reason at all. That's just wrong.

If this is legal - and i am not saying it shouldn't be - you can as well ditch the whole medical premise which scientifically stands on pretty shaky ground anyway, and legalize it for recreational use. A doctor, that is effectively employed by a weed delivery company, makes the big pharma - doctor connection look pale in comparison...

#4 no difference to many other doctors. I know a few that you can go to and just say "wee wee my wrist hurts and i cant sleep"..i will get morphine prescribed. For me this is the first step in legalization..since its not bought illegal on the street..they got your name and infos so you cant "overdose"..card can be revoked at any time. I am pro for it..that way smokers can get some weed from an official source and not get ripped off on the street.
I did smoke as teen for the high..but could also as easily buy alk, sniff glue..whatever.
Today i just smoke to gain appetit..since i dont get hungry on my own.
In my book its a fair regulation and should be spread.
If someone wants to smoke you dont need the med card..you get it on every corner anyways. That way its legal and regulated.
Just because the option is there doesnt mean non smokers start to smoke now just because they can. If they do..their fault. At the age of 12 you can find a way to get booze..its the person..not the option

It needs to be legalized in all States for goodness sakes, it needs to be decriminalized, it's medicinal...it's already given in pill form all the time in hospitals for patients to increase appetite, as Sizz mentioned, which beats the nasty Megace, that doesn't work anyways, Marinol works. I don't get the hype about weed, people take much worse stuff, Oxy, codeine, Perc, Vicodin and benzos all the time and people don't say anything about that, it's legit...so time to make weed , the most harmless of all those, legit too..

#8 But Oxy, codeine, Perc, Vicodin and benzos are only "legit" with a doctor's prescription. Should we make all of them legal without one? There is no comparison between pot and the problems those dangerous pain-killers pose , and at least you can't OD on pot, unless eating 6 Big Macs when you are high counts as an OD. :D

#9, Yes that was my point, if weed was legalized there would be less abuse of those more dangerous drugs, weed is already used for pain relief, in my opinion better than Oxy..

All I can say is if you have ever had a migraine...for 365 days of the year, for 63 years, 4 months, 2 weeks and 2 days...you will try ANYTHING to stop it. And guess what?...... it damn well WORKS! ( so far anyway ;-) )

#12 You can't be saying that you have had a full blown migraine for 63 years. If that is your age you must have been born with a migraine or you have been smoking too much Weed and it has clouded your mind and memory, I'd stop now.

All this positive talk about marijuana I am not hearing any mention of the psychosis that it causes, about the now credible links to mental illness including schizophrenia

I agree, #8, but for a different reason: The U.S. needs to take responsibility for its addictions. Once realization of this ability to respond reaches critical mass within an obfuscated society, curbing maladaptive self-medication will become child's play:
