I am not convincet that what we see is the thing happening in a real fight. Beacuse... you know. The ball shot I bet at exactly the same trajectory every time. So he had 20 meters of reaction time. (how ever that calculates in miliseconds) I mean.. He's fast. Though I bet.. ( I don't know) his not a superhuman samurai. (maybe.)

9,22 m at 161km/h thats 206ms if I calculated correct. So basically it's like trying to click a stop watch in the first fifth of the second while you see it running. With some training thats not too hard.

The difficulty is to anticipate how much time the drawing of the sword will take. But thats a matter of training, too. As long as the shot is fired exactly the same every single time I would guess thats learnable without too much effort, but it looks like you are a superninja.

That's travel time to 9.22m, we don't know if that was hit point where sword met a ball or his standing position? Consider he had to pull his sword (ahead of time) and hit it. How much time it takes to pull a sword and swing ? Subtract that time from 0.2s and you will get close to what his true reaction time was.

#1 It was 9.22 meters distance not 20 meters so that reaction was very impressive. The thing that looks weird to me is the inside of that ball. Baseballs have a leather outer skin but then it is all specially wound yarn all the way down to the little center ball called the pill which is made of rubber and cork and is smaller than a golfball. The innards of this ball do not look like that.
