BTW: The name of Giethoorn is misspelled at the start of the video in Geithoorn (Goatshorn)
For a real view of Giethoorn look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnRuAtMOrfM
Giethoorn is overcrowded in the Summer and invaded by Chinese people
A view of a busy intersection on the water

This would seem an idyllic place to live until you realise that fecking tourist's are gaping through your windows every five seconds, you can't sunbath in private for the same reason. Then you've got the redlight ladies handing around on the corners pinching your berries If I lived there I would be up at the crack of Dawn (or whatever her...No I mustn't) and fixing a long length of wood across the water with a NO ENTRY sign in the middle of it 50 yards either side of my property
I wonder how many people know that Geithoorn was named after the famous Dutch Jazz trumpeter Gertrude Geithoorn 1737-1816 and that although the music in this video was added after filming there is a speaker system the length of the Geithoorn canal running from the Council building playing Gertrude's music continuously from 9:30am to 20:00 everyday of the week bar Sunday's. There are 375 speakers all together approximately one for each house in Geithoorn. The suicide rate in this smallish village is the highest in the whole of Holland as people move in thinking they will get used to the sound and some actually go insane. The most common method of suicide an ankle rope dangling the poor creature into the canal from a bridge. It has gotten so bad that it is illegal to sell rope within a five mile radius of Geithoorn centre.
Geldish Clemspunt the local hairdresser started the worlds only Ponny Haire sipplu (Pony tail hair supplier in English) and supplies the Hare Krishna alopecia society with an exclusive range of tails of all colours and lengths. no other supplier has been used since 1976.
