How to make an emergency spare key. This tutorial shows you how to make a print of an original padlock key, and transfer it onto the lid of a food can. You can then cut out your own DIY spare key and use it to unlock your padlock. You might want to use pliers and safety gloves to do this project, and please be careful not to cut yourself.

But I think this will work only on those cheap pad locks. Very cool tutorial though.

Thanks..

So, when I lose the key, to make a spare one like this, first thing to do is to find the key that I lose it and than take a copy?

I really liked the video, thanks Geekster!

I just take my key to Lowes and have it copied so I will have a spare. :)

Clever..but I take mine to Lowe's too, that's if, as #2 Burimi pointed out, I can find the original...I guess that takes some planning ahead. >:)

I cut myself. Blood is everywhere and I'm getting light-headed. Now what?

#11 Glad to hear you're well, don't worry about the arm, you have another one, that's good enough, and thanks for getting back to us.. ;)

#11 You Nobby you could only have cut fingers on the hand of your useless arm as you would be holding the scissors with your good hand so you don't need to be Amplitudle. I'm beginning to think you is a lying Get! Or you is suffering from Munchhausen arm syndrome by proxy, either way you're in the book JJ SASSP :squirrel:
