Ha...I used to watch that show on TWC (The Weather Channel)....#1 where did you see brown? Brown doesn't necessarily mean what you think it means just as clear doesn't mean that it isn't in there.

I looked out across the river today
saw a city in the fog
and an old church tower
where the seagulls play.
Saw the sad shire horses
walking home, in the sodium light.
Two priests on the ferry
October geese on a cold winters night.
And all this time the river flowed,
endlessly to the sea.
If I had my way
I'd take a boat from the river,
and I'd bury the old man
I'd bury him at sea.

#4 It is a beautiful poem and there is more, but it is also a song which I'm surprised you don't know. 'All this time' By sting. He wrote it when his father died, going through all the fuss and religious rigmarole of arranging the funeral he said that if his father and he had had their wishes he would have simple borrowed a boat and buried him at sea. If you have never heard it find the original that was a single.

#5 I listened to the song and it s very nice..I truly had not heard it before...it's not unusual for me to have missed certain things throughout the course of my life....this being one of them...thank you JJ for sharing the song and the story.

#6 Really glad you got to listen to it. Now try 'Love me' by Collin Raye and 'He would be sixteen' by Michelle Wright. My kind of music.

#7 I appreciate you sharing the two songs, JJ but it's not really my kind of music.

#8 No, I've seen some of your music enquiring comments in the past, so I kinda expected not. I come from a gentler time and dimension.

I, too, come from a gentle dimension...the reason why I like the music you've seen me enquire or comment about (you're very observant!) I'm not sure other than it really resonates with me and having had children that listened to it has something to do with it too as that was the music I was exposed to for many years....but I also love lots of other kinds of music, always have and always will...

That's cool. I think my children were largely influenced by my musical tastes although they did dabble in some awful stuff for a while (but I don't think they really liked it), it was just the thing to do, rebelling and all that. I like lots of stuff but I hate rap especially if it is aggressive. I must be getting old because it all sounds very much the same to me these days. I am a bit of a lyricist and I like meaningful songs oh and TEA.

Sounds like your kids where exploring like all kids do and need to do, when it comes to likes and dislikes like that, that come and go I don't like to call it rebelling but rather exploring while finding their own new identity. Back then I had no music preference as I was super busy and didn't listen to music at all...somehow I'm influenced and inspired by many other things my children do and I get to do with them, which is kind of fun. It could also have something to do with you being a man and me being a woman and being more conforming...just a thought...lyricist I am too, but not good at finding it sometimes but have a friend who supplies me with wonderful lyrical stuff from time to time.....TEA? Well who wouldn't love TEA
