It's cool he builds stuff and the wife helps. Less and less young people these days who want and know how to build anything.
But that table turned out damn ugly IMO :)

#1 I disagree I thought the table was great, it didn't really need the glowing part but as a one off rustic table it was fine. You would pay an absolute fortune for something like that in some of the reclaim furniture stores. A couple of weeks ago I saw a table that had been made out of an old sack trolley laying on it back so could actually use the handles and wheels to move it around if you wanted $2100 :)

Having to drive 3 hours to get to the nearest shop, not having any IKEA in the area, makes people want to make their own furniture. and it is cheaper, also fun. You are free to cut down your own trees to make a table. And he did not even use any fancy stuff. it can be done with a handsaw and a square of sandingpaper also.

It was really enjoyable to watch the guy ( <3) make the table, I personally would prefer it without the glow, but still he did an amazing job, liked his dog too...
#3...Are you telling the truth today? ;) And what is a sack trolley...got to go to Google since I get no translation here. O:)

The glow is cool! You'll be able to find the table to put your drink on when you have the lights out and a fire going. :squirrel:

Yes Gringo, you're making an important point actually, also the glow could add some party atmosphere too..

It's always nice to make something yourself, for yourself (I'm glad I didn't get this as a present).
I guess epoxy is cheap in Russia (not in the US) and it's easier to fill the gaps between the blocks rather than trying to do actual woodwork, but I guess that wasn't the point.
yeah I know, I'm a scrooge.... but with a good heart O:)

#5 Absolutely true. A sack trolley is very common you will have seen many but you obviously call it something else. Two wheels on a metal frame with two handles on the top used for moving heavy items like a sack of grain or slabs etc :)

I always enjoy watching someone express their creativity and having fun. I like that they were working as a couple.

I'm not partial to the glow, but like the table. It would fit well in a log cabin motiff.

The part that made me nervious was doing all the epoxy work in his LIVING ROOM!! Anybody can have an accident doing a project and that isn't where you want to have an accident with epoxy. I've used it before and it is not easy to clean up. Apparently his wife was okay with him doing it there. I see a nice rug underneath where he is working. The man has confidence!

Three years on and I still like the table, I didn't realise I hadn't answered your last question Thunders, so three years late here it is, if you have ever had something large and heavy delivered to your house, like a washing machine possibly a Freezer, the delivery guy (Especially if he was working alone) would likely have used a sack trolley of some sort.. A wheel barrow is something different as they has a compartment for filling with soil, weeds etc, a sack trolley doesn't. Perhaps in America you call them Yanky Trollys :D

#18 That's perfectly okay, JJ, as I have been patiently sitting here for three years waiting for the answer...........8-) They call it a dollie here...and I still like the table too...and the guy that made it. <3
