Given how American media (i.e tele, newspapers and radio) has consolidated down to a few large corporate owners and media empires – how can this homogenization of message, content and delivery be any sort of surprise? Of course it is all scripted now. Proper reporters and investigative journalists have been deliberately downsized to save money, feel good wire stories are now presented as news, and then talking heads read the scripts presented in their teleprompters. Go one step further and add in political agendas and you get the epitome of brilliantly scripted messaging seen with Fox news. The 4th estate has been systematically and deliberately gutted and this is what we have ended up with. Sadly.

Even in the newspaper you will read the same words as what you hear on TV. This is because the news has came from one source - Reuter, AFT, etc. News anchors read the same article/script so you hear the same across TV stations.

Yes, I agree that is a very sad development, the times of good and critical news reporting, like Walter Cronkite for example, seems to be a thing of the past. I sometimes wonder where you could find the best news, what about BBC? It seems better and more informative than US news channels. I do like NPR and PBS here. What do others here think?

#7 Walter Cronkite? He was a mouthpiece for the One World Order movement and a self-admitted left-winger who was proud of that bias. During the 1964 political conventions CBS replaced Cronkite as news anchor because of his slanted reporting.

So, the job of a dumb newsreader is just to read an Autocue?
