First Aerial Footage of Aliso Canyon Natural Gas Leak

Aerial footage filmed Dec. 17, 2015, shows potent, climate-damaging methane gases escaping (110,000 pounds/hr) from a massive natural gas leak at a storage facility in California’s Aliso Canyon, with the San Fernando valley pictured in the background. The giant methane plumes were made visible by a specialized infrared camera operated by an Earthworks ITC-certified thermographer.

Reports indicate the leak , which is over 8000 feet deep, will be repaired by sometime in February .

#3 Good question. And the simple answer is it is not. But lets not have pesky 'facts' get in the way of #2's feel good rant. This well, drilled in 1953, which goes into an abandoned oilfiled is part of the underground Aliso Canyon storage facility. Negligence and lack of proper maintenence is most likely the culprit. Fracking is nasty business and deserving of a discussion but it doesnt appear to have ANY relevance here.

Here is a more complete explanation of what is going on.......
I would bet seismic activity played a part in the leak.

#4 indeed negligence and improper government oversight (what's new). Gov Moonbeam ran to France for global warming summit while this spewed tons of gas into the air making a lot of people ill. His sister resides on the board so all the "officials" were pretty mum until they started bringing in lawyers and Erin Brockovich to get things done. The local school district was threatening parents if they pulled their kids out of school, because it's not about the children, it's about the money and the adults.

During any disaster, understand you'll be on your own. The police protection is for the city officials and those connected, the rest of us are on our own with these dimwits.
