Cost of doctor's mistakes: Father jailed after armed standoff to save his son
A 27-year-old man suffered a massive stroke. Doctors declared him brain dead and approved taking him off life support. His desperate father took a gun and threatened staff to save his son's life.
Shortly after that night, the patient came out of the coma and made a full recovery. However his father was sentenced to 10 months for the incident.

what an interesting moral dilemma.
He endangered others for his son which is very wrong but then who among us wouldn't? I know I would, selfish though it may be.
I find it interesting that the charges against him were dropped, he may not of intended to hurt anyone at any stage in this process but you can't know the outcome, accidents happen in heated situations especially when a gun is involved.
I imagine he would have been more than content to serve 10 months in jail considering he had saved his son, again, I know I would!!!
Good on him and at the same time what a silly thing to do...Morally confused!

There has to be more to that story...awakening from 11 months of brain dead??? Super unlikely...but sure, possible...and this picture has to be older, not from just now...no one to my knowledge stays intubated for that long for many sound medical reasons...by now he would have a tracheostomy, much safer...just saying...I guess I could be wrong too. Anyone medical out there on snotr to express your opinion on this, because I'm curious and skeptical.

If you listen to the beginning this all happened 11 months ago and thank goodness the dad is now out of jail. I bet this rush to get organs happens all too often.

WoW... Amazing doctors... Did they even had the EEG attached to the patient when they got their readings out of it?
Being brain dead is not something you can return from. It's like a full format. The brain is wiped clean of all data. Tabula Rasa. Finito!
That guy was experiencing a brain reset. It's not even that uncommon after head injuries or strokes.
That's why you never freaking declare someone brain dead moments after the accident.
Idiots. Freaking idiots!
And yes... I'm mad...

Glad the charges got dropped in time for Christmas, and that nobody died, heh.
Maybe I'm too distrusting of hospitals, but... If you ask me, everyone else is too trusting of em
Nope, not an organ donor.. Save MY ass!! heh
