#2 - yes it is. A very interesting woodworker/scientist. A side note about him >> Excellent fine woodworking, and woodworking research, but simply awful design. By that I mean -- look at Matthiase's channel and his high tech woodworking miracles/projects, which look frankly, quite awful. And now look at homemademodern channel - - and what great designs come out of this guy, given a screw and a board.
