#1. 'Would definitely get my attention' indeed as you get smacked in the head, arm body etc until you get proficient enough. ;) Spinning presumably hard plastic balls on a cord, what could go wrong? Few people last that long and then these things usually get chucked in the drawer and forgotten about. Until the next spinning thing fad comes along. Can make for a clever performance however for those with the appropriate mindset, recreational habits and lifestyle...

This reminds me of Knockers from the 70/80s can't remember exactly when (probably due to concussion, as I had a set) basically two hard plastic balls tied either end of a short piece of string with a little grippy thing in the middle. You got them going slowly like a two balled Newtons Cradle then the dangerous part when you got them crashing against each other above and below your hand at a furious speed, think Conkers for people without friends. Everyone had a set for about a month until A&E started filling up with kids with broken bones at the back of their wrists and amazingly they vanished from the face of the earth >:)

Just had a quick look on line they were also called Clackers and were banned in 1985. Also noticed that in 1951 you could buy (for your kid) a u238 atomic energy lab that actually contained four uranium bearing orr samples for just $49.50 that got banned too. :S

Got to say I prefer "Ball in a Cup", much better.

"Hey kids of america, its hand painted wooden ball-in-a-cup, Mexico's favorite toy for over 340 years. Who needs constant video game stimulation when theres ball-in-a-cup? You just toss the ball, catch it in the cup, dump it out of the cup, toss it, and catch it in the cup again. The ball is on a string and attached to the cup, so theres no worry if you dont catch the ball in the cup. And clean up is as easy as catching a ball, in a cup. So why spend another day not catching a ball in a cup when you can be catching a ball-in-a-cup?"

Where I live it is illegal to have a rope with two balls attached, because it can be used a weapon, and it is on the list of forbidden weapons like nunchucks.

#6 Exactly why I referred this to a Martial Art, it looks like it could be one.

Those are 2 wooden balls and steel balls at the ends (seperated by 2 knots if you didnt noticed). And yes..i can be used as weapon if trained, or you can hurt youself if dumb. Google what a yoyo is..it was a weapon at first.
Its not that kind of a toy you just pick up and do it..just as you cant juggle just because you bought jugglin balls/pins/scarfs/cards
It is an "art" toy..to train skills, eye-hand coordination..

LOL. Taken from wikipedia. 'Clackers were taken off the market when reports came out of children becoming injured while playing with them. Fairly heavy and fast-moving, and made of hard acrylic plastic, the balls would occasionally shatter upon striking each other'. 'The toy enjoyed a brief renewal of popularity in the 1990s with clackers consisting of a handle and plastic triangles with the plastic balls at the end giving weight to the free moving toy. It was played the same way and sold in bright neon colours' 'Clackers were also used as weapons by Joseph Joestar, the protagonist of the "Battle Tendency"
