1:42 TIL dogs can't discern red against green, so red dog toys are hard for them to see on grass (mentioned at 2:07).

#1 And your point is? I think he is saying that much like the effect that some humans have, dogs are colour blind. I spend a lot of time with dogs all types and something I have noticed is that very few of them can make out shapes on television (even HD). Whereas some are obsessed with it, especially when an animal often but not always a dog walks across the screen. Also these dogs actually remember certain adverts where a dog is going to appear towards the end of the ad and will wait for it. The strange thing is that an actual dog will walk in front of the TV and the dog will ignore it completely.
The question here of course is which is the more intelligent or talented dog? the few (and it really is a few) that watch them and react on TV, or the rest, the majority who perhaps can see them, but realise that it's a TV and ignore them ;) :squirrel:

#2 All dogs are capable of recognizing faces and shapes on TV. There are some interesting studies carried out in Germany in which one of our Dogs participated, where they had to interact with a touchscreen and identify emotional expressions of human faces. So, I tend to go with the option, that a dog who reacts on dogs in TV might not be the sharpest tool in the shed :) On the other hand remembering adverts shows some remarkable pattern recognition skills. Next chance i get i will ask the scientists opinion.
