Just don't take drugs simple! You don't need them! If you want a high have the odd pint or a glass of Wine, don't get into spirits either oh and don't smoke! you don't look cool, your clothes smell as does your breath and there have been enough adverts for you to know that it gives you cancer. Above all don't be a fecking sheep if everyone around you are popping pills look at them for what they are, fecking idiots. Be a Wolf or a Hen, take a stand be an individual!!! <3

I don't condone drug use, and I don't use illegal drugs, but it is not always that simple for everyone, and I believe there is a time where many of us could get into a situation where we might become at risk to use them, whether it was in the past during the teen years or whether it is in the future due to loss, depression, aging or illness, life can get very complicated and complex and we never know what will hit us..

#2 I understand what you're saying but it's just like saying: don't drink, don't smoke, don't do stupid things, treat other people like you want to be treated.

Life just isn't that simple, people drink, smoke, do drugs and treat each others like crap.

The things I mentioned up top, including drugs of course, are all bad. Period.

just be smart about it (not always easy, I know).

But I remember this line from a movie (little miss sunshine):

Sheryl: [to Frank] He started snorting heroin.

Frank: [to Grandpa] You started snorting heroin?

Grandpa: [in response to Frank, aimed at Dwayne] Let me tell ya, don't do that stuff. When you're young, you're crazy to do that shit.

Frank: [to Grandpa] Well what about you?

Grandpa: [to Frank] What about me? I'm old. When you're old you're crazy not to do it.

#3 You can always choose :) It's really not like someone forces you to do it. I can say I had some really hard moments in my life, not just that car accident I mentioned earlier, and I was never tempted to do drugs. For example, I dont smoke or drink at all. I think I drink maximum 5 times per year, and even then it's just a bit just for the taste. I never got wasted in my life... I mean I drank I got dizzy I got funny but I could always walk in a straight line and make my own decisions. I've always had my limits. My dad for example never smoked or had alcohol in his entire life, except that little sip of weak wine at church every month when it's the Holy Communion / Lord's Supper. And no, it's not a religious thing, I simply don't like to drink. I just see it's just wasted money, I dont find any pleasure in it AND it's not good for the body. So why do it? Seeing me talking like this about alcohol and cigars, Imagine what I think about drugs :) In my opinion is the entourage what makes the consumption of these things so popular.

Anyways, all drugs are bad, period. It's not because I say it, but if we look around and see how the society is build, and how many laws against drugs are out there, can we even doubt that they were made with no purpose? These laws against drugs have a very powerful back ground, I mean we can see it for ourselves, just see how much of a social problem the alcohol/drugs are today, how many people die and how many families are ripped apart because of them. It's not the drug that kills (only in overdose cases), it's the addiction they create. Drugs are addiction: Drug - a habit-forming medicinal or illicit substance, especially a narcotic.

I dont condemn the people who do it ,it's solely their problem what they do with their lives and I couldnt care less what they do in their private time, but when their drug use starts to affect other people and society in general, it's wrong and they need to be stopped.

#7 It is perfectly okay not to do drugs, and it is great that you don't do any drugs, not even the legal ones. It's just you still can't project from yourself onto others, because everyone is so different and everyone is affected differently by even similar situations, some people are intensely affected others aren't, but that does not mean one is weaker or has a bad character compared to the other, it just means everyone is uniquely affected by loss or pain, etc, just like our bodies are also affected differently by similar influences, so is our psyche. And yes, it is someone's choice to use drugs, but to some it is the only way out to deal with life's stressors and pain. In the summer I submitted this video, because I think it explains it very well:

Cannabis is medicine that saved my life and heroin killed a few of my friends. Heroin must be the dumbest drug for the dumbest people which is the reason I will never do it.
I also don't drink or smoke anymore so yes drugs are bad but medicine is good....especially if everybody already has the said medicine (cannabis) naturally in the body without ingesting a dose of medicine.
Some people like myself just need a dosage of the med to heal properly. <------- PERIOD!

#9 That's a totally different story my friend :) Medicinal use of vs dumb use is by far not the same thing.
#8 In all the case we can think of, drugs are not solving ANYTHING, they only make the situation worse. And even so, not all people use drugs because of an emotional situation, in fact, the number of people who use it for that purpose is soooo little compared to the ones that use drugs, just to use drugs, because it's kool. Let's not excuse drug usage by giving EXCEPTIONS as EXAMPLES.

#10 None of the things you mention did I actually dispute, I never argued that drugs are solving anything and I also did not say that ALL people with issues are using them. I also didn't say that people are not using them to be cool, but that was not part of the video or the discussion. I was just saying that those who are using drugs, any drugs, it could be overeating or over shopping too, but for the purpose of the discussion let's stay with mind altering drugs, are affected by life in such a painful way that the only way to them to deal with it, is using drugs, either their life threw them more monkey wrenches, or they are affected by it differently or more intensely than another person with similar issues, who knows, at the end of the day we cannot project our own situation, good or bad onto others. :squirrel:

#11 Thunders, there is a point that is being missed here. When I was a teenager and I'm talking the mid seventies life was just as complicated, difficult and painful as it is today, worse in my opinion because it was also quite boring. But it was not common practice for people to pop pills or stick needles into their veins to get by. :S

#12 JJ, I do understand your point very well, and you are probably right when it comes to the amount of drug use. I don't mean to sound righteous, I'm just trying to analyze this in a factual, non-emotional way. I am sure there are statistics out there, but I have not checked. But we would have to compare amount of drug use from the mid-seventies (when I was a teen as well) to today. Is it possible that those kind of drugs are just more readily available today than they were then, and if they would have, would people maybe have used them too as they are today? Availability is always a big factor with any commodity. Because I don't really believe that individuals or society as a whole was better then than today. And are we sure life was just as complicated then, than today? There are a lot of questions that come to mind, and I'm just a skeptic at heart, but I like the discussion. :squirrel:

#13 This may be a little late for the discussion as it's probably already ended. But I'm sure you are right in regards to what was readily available and in general use forty (gosh that sounds a long time ago) years ago, to what is available on the streets today, but somehow that doesn't do it for me. There were drugs around back then and I remember walking around with a small piece of Moroccan Black (what ever that was) in my jacket pocket for months that had been given to me by a friend. I kept it and looked at it for curiosity sake, in fact if I still have the jacket it may still be there lol.

Like a few of the confessions I have read on Snotr I too have had some really dark periods in my life, darker than some I have read, but I have never been tempted to get into anything that is potentially addictive that could ruin your entire life emotionally, physically and financially and do you know why? Because I can read! and I believe it when I read about people who have to steal to fund a habit that eventually is going to kill them. I also believe that life, the one we are living now is the only one we are going to get. Life after death, dying to go to a better place? I'm sorry it's nonsense. Don't screw up this life you won't be passing this way again. <3

#14, JJ, it may be late, but it's not too late and the discussion has not ended. I'm glad you told me about your comment, because although I do go back far to check occasionally, I don't always go back as frequently as with current videos.
And you are definitely right, there were drugs then too, a lot, and I remember them too, I was so young, maybe 15 or 16 (by the way, I completed my snotr profile this morning ;)) and I also was shown Maroccan Black by my best friend (peer pressure!!!) and somehow I knew and decided then and there not to go any further than my weekend alcohol binges at the local disco, that were funded by "older" men (24, and 26...lol) who would also drive me home late at night, because I was totally plastered..sounds crazy, but it was safer than what my "best" friend proceeded to do, moving on to IV heroine..we were no longer friends then, because she was trying to persuade me to do this too...I was still in highschool at the time, maintaining excellent grades... I knew good grades were my way out of my youth/teen misery...why am I mentioning this here? Because I'm still trying to prove the point of the video of drug addiction, any drug addiction, it is a response to pain, emotional pain, and the response is more or less drastic, depending on how severely that individual is affected by the pain he or she is experiencing, some individiuals have a very high tolerance, some a very low one, mine was probably somewhere in between, but trending more to a low tolerance, but it was "only" alcoholI I used, others moved on to hashish, or even IV drug use. I do understand and agree with what you are saying, that you have a choice to chose or not to use drugs at all, but I think it is extremely hard and difficult for some to do and different for every person. <3

the nicest, maybe the best explanation about a drug that CAN and probably also WILL break also the strongest person of this world. how easy you drown in it is well explained and from then on it is a fight to stop or continue just not to be sick. abstinence of heroin is one of the worst feelings one can come across and every next one is more horrible.
I did many cold turkeys in my first 5 years of addiction, now I just stopped to fight. it has broken my once strong will, now just a thought of passing one day sick... the 1st day is not even so horrible as it can get... I sh*t my pants. from this deep seeded fear of sickness that grew up in me.
exactly the fact that it doesn't take over you after first trys is what tricked me and many of my dead or slowly dying friends. Do not think you are strong enough to beat it...coz you are not. and even if you climb out of it - you are scarred for life.
NEVER DO HEROIN. NEVER EVER. SIMPLY NEVER... You will miss nothing and You will not destroy people that love you and finally destroy yourself.
