Why even mention the nuclear plant? 50 km is an extremely safe distance for a volcano of this size.

#5 And by fragments you actually mean ash, not ballistic projectiles? Otherwise it would need an ejection speed of min. 11275 km/h - in a frictionless environment. The peak of the ballistic curve would be at a height of 500 km - more than twice the height of the orbit of the ISS.

The nuclear industry would never be that stupid.
I mean, they would never put multiple reactors next to a fault line such that a tsunami would knock them out and cause them to melt down or put the spent fuel rods on the roof of the reactor so they would fall into the fire increasing the mess.
