#1 i agree with you that these videos raise awareness. but in reality... with all the awareness... does any body actually do something about it?

update:
with something i don't mean raising even more awareness.

#2 Yes, I'm sure you're probably right, and nope, unfortunately, as you are saying, probably no one is doing anything, I know I'm not...but it takes only one person who sees this and takes action to make a small difference maybe ..so the video is still useful, at leastI think so and hope so..

#1 this video is fake but clearly makes a point. Reality is these laws are on the books and by your link evidently are fairly often invoked, way more than I thought. I knew the Mormon church did this and of course you'll have some 16-17 year olds here and there, but the numbers are a lot higher than I would have guessed.

Our lawmakers could change this tomorrow (a thousand plus ridiculous laws in my state are passed each year), but what you find out is the people in charge (or at least enough of them) are sick in the head themselves and really don't want to change this. I find it odd how many women in these higher power positions go along with the norm as well, the children come second which is counter-intuitive to me for a woman, but again I believe psychopaths go for these high power lawmaker type of jobs, men and women.

A fairly recent and famous case was 16 year old Courtney Stodden marrying 50+ year old "Green Mile" Doug Hutchison, WITH HER PARENTS CONSENT. They split a few short years after but still sick, especially the parents.

Remember too the ACLU regularly fights for the rights of pedophiles to pursue their "prey". It's illegal to engage in the sex act on a minor, but they still fight for their right to pursue.

#4 I agree with you, that it would be simple to change these laws right now, and that many of those state law makers are sick to no end and could care less.
I see that here too, we even have a female district attorney who lied, and I used to think women were more honest and sincere and kind in those positions, but man, when they get into power they are almost worse.
And I agree, those type of people are not right in their head to begin with, that's why they are so power hungry, and if someone comes along with integrity, they won't make it very far or they have to become sick in their head as well to succeed.
And what kind of parents consent to something like that!...
I'm being very cynical right now, and I hope that maybe in some ways I am wrong, but I have my doubts.

this is not fact, this is exceptional, in reality, over 95 percentage of so called child marriage is between younger females married with younger males, so you pissed off because you can not make free sex when marriage age is down. i dont want a used wife or husband....

#2 Sadly the answer is not really because you're dealing with people that often have other beliefs, completely different social structures and what not. You can't just enter such a country and say "this is the way things need to be". It won't work and it'll cause immense problems and hate towards your country. That's why other countries often try to stay out of their way and just let them do whatever it is they're doing.

Did you know that there are still countries in this world where female genital mutilations are still taking place? It's a scary world, trust me.

@9 Did you know that there are still countries in this world where you can walk into a shop and buy a gun? That's what frightens me.

#13 & #14 My dad got guns too for that issue, and my mom also got pepper sprays. The incidents with the "immigrants" in my country are numbering up, so I'm seriously thinking to get a gun too, at least an air-soft one. Last year in December I almost got mugged by 3 of them: I was walking my dog, and there was this guy seeing me using my phone. When I saw him I immediately put my phone in my pocket. He asked me to give him my phone to "make an urgent phone call", and I said no and walked away on the alley. I heard him mumbling as he didnt like my answer and I noticed he's following me, then I felt my dog is pulling forward in the leash, and when looked back forward another 2 of his friends suddenly appeared from the bushes. I was circled, and knowing what's next I yelled my dog's name and he instantly charged to one of them and jumped to his face, but the leash was not so long and he stopped just centimeters away from his face. They got scared and ran away.

I'm not racist, I'm not hating, but I wish this pieces of scum to get out of my country.

@12. I read what you wrote a couple of times, and it still doesn't make any sense. Perhaps you ought to concentrate and compose your thoughts with more care before making a comment. :|

#17 Not really. No. They are a huge problem here. They're stealing from people, they're harassing people, they are no good for my country, and I'm the one wrong? really ?

I said Im not racist , because I don't care if they are SYRIANS, or of they are MUSLIMS! They could be russians, americans, italians, I dont care about their nationality or religion! I care that they mess up my country! My country is already plagued by gypsies who come from the same area + india. My house got robbed and vandalized 2 times by them, and many times they entered my yard and stole things, even the fruits and vegetables in the garden. I had some really close calls with them, one being just recently when they tried to steal my phone and my dog scared them away.

#19 But when you say "they" you refer to all of them, granted, it sounds like you had some very bad experiences, but are really all of them like that, no exceptions? I do understand your frustration, and here in the US we don't understand because we are far away from those problems...still we have to be careful, so that at the end of the day, we don't have another scape goat, like we did in 1939...in the meantime, I am sad to hear there is some much strife in Europe. :'(

My country can not even handle their own poor people, and definitely wont be able to handle the refugees, ESPECIALLY when they behave like this.

My country unfortunately is somewhere in the middle of the top 10 poorest countries in EU. I know the situation here very well because I voluntary worked during the summers and my free time as a translator and organizer for a non-profit charity organization for about 7 years. I cannot describe what I've seen and heard during these 7 years. Oh, and we've also tried many times helping the gypsies by giving them food parcels and other goods in their villages, and they simply got into our bus and vans and stole everything that could be stolen. We had many similar problems with them so we just stopped going there.

Here the average person gets a 300 EUR salary. Here with a 500-800 EUR salary you are seen as rich. Here lawyers, architects , engineers, programmers, have a salary between 600 and 1500 eur (but these are rare, good case scenarios). So considering that the average person gets about 300-350 eur per month, with that money needs to pay rent, utility bills, food, clothes for the family, send children to school, also pay taxes , gas for car (which is more expensive than most of the Europe - http://www.fuel-prices-europe.info/ ), internet, phone, and also put something for savings..or not! What would you do with a 300 eur salary?

I really dont want to victimize, but the situation here is already bad and I dont want it even worse.

No offence, but my country does not need THIS:

Also, forgot to mention how the gypsies ruined our country and it's reputation, and how we are seen as the scum of Europe because of them.

#21 The sense of entitlement on the refugees is appalling, I admit, especially for material things that many of us don't have or have to work very hard for to obtain and maintain, such as an Iphone...I only got my first one in May, it is a lot of extra charge for the GBs and insurance etc..none of us get anything for free either, even in the wealthy countries...so I can understand the frustration and anger. Unfortunately I wished I'd have an answer for the humanitarian issues that arise, such as basic food, shelter, medical care...
Picture of Geekster80 achievements

+4 23. Geekster (admin) commented 8 years ago

Of course in the wealthy countries nobody gets something for free, but still, the situation is a whole lot better, better opportunities, help from the state, and so on. For example, I heard in Germany, that people who are poor/homeless, are given a place where to stay and some money, or at least help from the state. Here in Romania if you are pore and homeless, well guess what, you are poor and homeless because the state doesn't give a flying damn. You get absolutely no help from the state. Kids(minors) get every month a check from the state which is intended for buying school stuff/clothes/food, which is........ 10 EUR ....... :| and thats pretty much it. Even persons with handicap sometimes dont get their help (which is not much also), and same goes for people who are sick with cancer or similar diseases.

By curiosity, what is your profession? I remember you mentioned in a comment that you are a nurse at a hospital. Am I right?

#23 You're right, the situation is definitely better in wealthy countries. I would say in Germany it is better for low income citizens than in the US, also taxes are higher in Germany. In the US you have to be with absolutely nothing before you get anything, I would be willing to pay more taxes to even out the gap between poor and the very wealthy which is growing bigger every year, on the other hand, most wealthy are not willing to contribute (yes, of course there are always exceptions) I belong to the middle class, we pay about 30% income taxes, the wealthy pay about 15 %..the saying is true here.."the poorer get poorer, and the wealthy get wealthier"...the homeless rate is always getting bigger too. There will be US snotr users here that will disagree and down vote me, but the facts speak for themselves.
