What did they expect to happen? Liquid salt is 801C (1473,8F). And water expands volume around 1600 times when steam. Explosion, yes. :D 8-)

#8 Blue or red pill - the amount of damage in that picture is staggering. Notice that the boiler casing is *completely* gone, not even parts of it remain. Even the wheels have been pushed a good 40 centimeters into the ground -- *through* the thick wooden crossties!
