In my opinion these aren't logical paradoxes at all. It is more semantics than anything else. Logic does not rely on language to be valid.
"Heap" and "self" are simply ill defined concepts or catergories that allow ambiguous interpretations. If you want to apply logic there can be no wiggle room.

The Ship of Theseus theory is part of the question of identity, which belongs in the category of metaphysics in philosophy, if I'm not mistaken, and is part of an everyday college Intro to Philosophy course...cool and somewhat mind bending..

#5 The question I posed was from a paper I wrote in a Metaphysics Philosophy class.

#8 cochise, I was not questioning your #1 question, merely making a statement from an intro course of philosophy I had to take several years ago. If I may ask, what was the reason you took that class? Did you like it? :) :squirrel:

#10 I had agreed with you completely. Its all good including all your responses and the relationship you have with that judger-fek guy. LOL The topic came up in a Metaphysics 336 class in college. It was for a degree in philosophy. There were only handful of us that graduated from the U of Illinois with a degree in Philosophy.

#11..That's cool, a degree in philosophy, like you said, not many have that, I'm sure those higher level courses are pretty difficult..I had my brain in a pretzel just from an 100 level intro course, but I loved it...have no idea how JJ suddenly got thrown into our conversation, but that's okay, other than being snotr friends with him right here, I really don't have a relationship with him..but it is evident you don't approve ;) :squirrel: :squirrel: :squirrel:
