:'( I recently watched the Schindler's List and The Pianist.

It's a shame that when we went to one of the concentration camps with the whole class I was to young to really grasp the depth of the place and what happened there not a big while ago. It's really disheartening how people could and still can treat each other.

#4 This wasn't war, this was mass extermination of innocent human beings by monsters, who if there was a hell which unfortunately there isn't, would be writhing around in agony for eternity. Unfortunately if proof were needed this isn't a God either, if there was, here is proof of what use he or she is to mankind. If there is a God and therefore a Devil also, I would say the Devil won hands down here. :|

After the first third it gets extremly intense. A must watch documentation. Sadly this is only the most widely known genocide, not the only one. All of the tasmanians were killed till 1876, indonesia killed over a million communists. Croation Ustaschi killed half a million serbs, then decades later serbians killed bosnians. The list is long. It is even suspected that the original europeans died out around 4500 years ago in a genocide.

By no means should this make Ausschwitz seem more harmless or something that could happen again. This is the worst a human Society can act and we should never forget and never let something remotely similar ever happen again. A good first step is watching this documentation.

#6 It was during a time of great depression *and* war. People looked to a leader that was different from the rest and they sure got it. The worst part is that some countries in Europe are currently going down the same road with very radical political parties. You'd have to live in such a time to fully grasp how something like Nazi Germany could even happen because watching it from the outside makes little sense.

Coming out of a great depression, where the banking system fucked it all up, with people loosing faith in the ruling parties and electing out of protest, which leads to situations where no government works, till you get a leader, that ignores internal Problems of the country and blames some Ethnie group. Those who do not learn from history are bound to repeat it.

#9 with the Trump phenomenon in america, populist right wing parties on the rise all over europe, the news resources many people consume via the internet that are pure propaganda and the popularity of scapegoats in many movements it does not look like we learned too much from the events of the past.
I only hope that such an atrocity is not possible anymore in the information age, because somebody will expose it in time, before an industrial killing complex can be set up. The public outcry and consequences after Abu Ghraib make me optimistic.

I can't watch this. But let me share a short story.

Many years back, a friend with her parents came to visit me from Hungary, they wanted to see Auschwitz in Poland (O?wi?cim). My friend, 14-yo at that time was learning English, so she couldn't yet read all notes in a museum. One of the rooms, contained a HUGE pile of human hairs, she asked me what "victims" means as she was trying to understand note on the plate there. When I explained and she realized what she is looking at... well I will never forget a look on her face, as her mind completed a story behind what she just saw. She run away from a building with tears in her eyes and quite shocked. It was last building she went into.

I think of myself as logical and rational person, but let me say this. I felt death, as if it was tangible, like a blanket you can be wrapped in. If Ghosts exists, this is a place where you can hear and touch them.

This video, and many like it, doesn't even begin to describe that place, or any other like it. It's like trying to describe a taste, or smell, you simply can't.

#10 I see it as the pendulum swinging one way and then another. I think many people feel in their gut the elite beard scratchers, the finger waggers and PC crowd are absolute lunatics and they've gained too much power and their ideas/ideals are often harmful to the general population and out of touch with reality. Trump has hit that visceral nerve and rallied many people because he speaks how many have been thinking for quite some time now. Bush was so bad we got Obama, Obama has been so bad we may, good or bad, get Trump.

Excellent video, as #7 says, a must watch..."Who is next?", as she says at the end, is an important question, because, without minimizing what happened there, it has happened before and has happened afterwards..#7 mentioned a few, another one, the systematic extermination of Native Americans by the American government in the 19th century.

#13 It's a shame it's been two years since your comment and I don't recall you being on snotr any more. which is probably not a bad thing. But just in case you are still around and still share the same view please PM me and explain how you came to that conclusion.
