#1 Well thats because English is pretty much the most universal and easy language out there, so any person that doesnt have English as mother tongue, will most probably know more than one language for obvious reasons. For example I fluently speak Romanian and English too (I started learning English since I was 4 and at 10-12 i could speak and listen with no problems, and when I was like 16-17 I could speak it with really good American accent), Hungarian (can understand and speak but cannot write it because its damn hard ) , a bit of Spanish, German and French(learned in school), and I can understand Russian in somewhat quantity.

#3 When you live in a tiny country surrounded by four other countries with different languages it is probably a natural thing to learn the languages of you neighbors. Your country is about one-fourth the size of Virginia and Virginia is a relatively small state in the US. I don't need another language (especially at my age) to understand people from the states surrounding mine or anywhere else in the country. Most foreigners I have contact with here speak English , so no problem.

A man sees his doctor and asks to be made Irish.
The doctor tells him that in order to make him Irish, he'll have to remove 50% of his brain. The man agrees and they go ahead.
The man comes out of anaesthetic and the doctor tells him there's been an awful mistake. Instead of removing 50% of his brain, the surgeon has taken away 90%.
"Oh no", said the man, "so what does that make me?"
The doctor answers: "American".

I'm a bilingual dyslexic, I can't read or write in two languages but I can speak 32 actual languages, unfortunately I made the 32 languages up myself and there's nobody else to talk to. I like most English people believe that there is only one Language and that's English, everyone one else just makes silly noises to each other.

A man had just got out of the hospital from a sex-change operation and he was talking to his buddies. "Did it hurt?" "No, not really, only the last bit.""Was that when they cut it off?""No, that didn't hurt, it was the last bit." "Was that when they put the implants in your chest?""No, it was just the last bit that hurt.""Well what was the last bit?""You know, the bit where they take half your brains out and make your mouth bigger. That was agony!"

I speak Swedish and English, but honestly if you speak Swedish you can probably speak some Norwegian/Danish as well, possibly some Icelandic with training. My point is some languages are closer to each other than others. The most impressive languages spoken in this video were the Asian ones by far in my opinion. I'd love to at least understand some Japanese but never had the time, maybe in another life.

Very impressive, to know so many languages, some more and some less...the difference between him and many others is motivation and interest in other languages, not just the proximity of other countries surrounding him. You can tell how much he enjoys it.
