maybe as a native english speaker i would get the joke .. but i didn't so wiki saved the day

You can even hear at 0:57 how it effectively prevents side-fumbling! This was one of its most marketable features. But, of course, scientific progress is inevitable and nobody uses wane shafts anymore. And yes, the government actually bought four of them, over the course of 2 years.
