if not a deck hand now, perhaps he got demoted to Anchor, though I doubt it, as he's already proven hes not very good at stopping boats :P

Not sure the captain is responsible. When cruise ships come into a remote port, the port sends a harbor pilot out to oversee the docking. Unless the captain (or someone else on the bridge) were ignoring instructions, it's the pilot who bears responsibility.

Its usually a pilot that actually brings the ship in that last bit, I imagine that's one pilot that wont be getting much more work.

Sounds windy, wonder if it was blown into the dock, the thrusters were going like crazy, too!
