I had always made a point of never eating food from that restaurant.

The basic question is always the same: Why should the manager of a huge company use expensive ingredients that have higher quality and far more expensive, if the consumer cannot distinguish it from low quality. Simple answer: He won't. He just can't as he is trying to get profits up and not the consumers health.
That alone is the reason I don't eat at any of the major franchise restaurants. I have found a few good places to buy my groceries, quality meat is a major problem, since most of it is full of growth hormones, antibiotics and phosphates, but there is one butcher nearby that I trust. And I try to cook at home and take the food to work. I lost 15 kg, feel refreshed after 6-7 hours of sleep and being tired after work is a thing of the past. I even have the motivation to go to the gym on a regular basis.
