#1 Oh I agree...in principle, but if genetic engineering gave me three foot long green tendrils in place of hair in return for curing my bloody migraines...I'd happily accept!

#1 Sounds fun to me. Beats the alternative. Avoiding the unknown, cowering from it, and stagnating as a species.. No thanks. Yea, there's lots of potential for disaster in this field, but there's also a ton of potential for it to benefit us as well. Some boxes should be opened. imo, this is one such box. The potential benefits are too plentiful.

I think if it can eradicate HIV, Parkinson, MS, Lupus and such, it should be further developed, of course caution is paramount, after all the changed DNA will be passed on, for ever..

#7 On the subject of playing God!! Interestingly the ability to master this technology (which is going to happen like it or not) is for the very first time in human development something that could produce something close to a real God or Gods, not the mumbo jumbo nonsense that occupies too much time and energy at the moment:|

#9 There is absolutely no evidence that anyone has suffered any harm from GMOs. None. No matter what the activists will tell you. There have been thousands of independent trials to show that. The few trials that seemed to show harm were badly done, and often funded by the organic industry. For them, one way they can convince people to spend more money on their products is by convincing people that the cheaper products that are produced by their competitors are harmful.

If you get sugar from GM beets it is chemically identical to sugar from non-GM beets. The same with oil from GM and non-GM oil.
Genetic modification is just a breeding method. The products of the genetically engineered plants are identical, and treated exactly the same by the body.

But drinking water instead of sodas is going to be better for you anyway.

Living hundreds of years, hmmmm, I thought the world population folks wanted us to die sooner, not them of course, but the "rest" of "us". With power in the hands of a few, it'll end up being so incestuous that I'm not sure it'll be a great world to live in. Glad I won't be around. ;)
