I am living in Stuttgart - Baden-Württemberg, was born in Nürnberg - Bavaria and lived near Köln - Northrhine Westfalia for 12 years.
I like my country and i am sad looking back at all the great history, the bad terrible history and the unknown future which is frightening me.
I can't help but feel, that the germany i know and love will be a thing of the past in the not so distant future...

Eichhörnchenschwaz is German for squirrel tail, not squirrel. But apart from that I am properly impressed with the narrators pronounciation.

- Germany is called "Bundesrepublik Deutschland". "Bundesrepublik" alone makes no sense - it's just denotes the type of country
- The dark Bread shown is not Pumpernickel
- I work in a German company. The hostname of each of our computers and servers is a brand of beer
- The culture in the different states is not really that different

The speakers pronunciation is very good indeed.

I often call it just Bundesrepublik.
And i even hear news moderators just call it that...........
Just because from your perspective you haven't heared it that much doesn't mean, it's wrong.
The dark bread shown is 100% dark pumpernickel.
It comes in various sizes, forms and colors.
The culture is not different?
Oberbayern vs. Hamburg? I guarantee you, there are customs in Bayern, you have never heared of if you're not from there.

#3 I beg to differ...the cultural, and dialect differences within the German States (Länder) and regions are profound, as #4 also pointed out...the term "Bundesrepublik" is used by Germans when they talk about their own country to each other, because everyone knows what they are referring to, it would not be used by Germans talking about Germany to either foreigners or to non-Germans while they are outside of the German borders.
