Why aim for a village, then the largest tree, then a field with a creek/swamp? So many other choices would have put him a better spot. Maybe powerlines that didn't show up on camera?

I'm guessing he lived in one of those houses and thought that after the crash he might be able to crawl home and get an aspirin and a sticking plaster.>:)
