This is a very private moment between Father and Son very close to death and I'm not totally comfortable with this being on-line or on Snotr but that's only my opinion which I presume I'm entitled to.

The song though is one of my absolute favourites written by Harry Chapin and has been covered by many artists and bands over the years, Never better in my opinion than by Ricky Skaggs with an incredibly moving video. when he looks into the camera at the very end he's saying 'You really ought to think about this' https://youtu.be/fDe4jPhl5ac I remember many years ago having this playing on CMT Country Music Television and someone I didn't especially like came in the office, I had to leave for a few minutes and when I returned the song was just finishing and this guy had tears in his eyes and he suddenly said "I've got to go home and kiss my kids" he left and I changed my opinion of this 'Changed' guy. <3

#2 No worries. The celebration of life can appear quite bizarre, especially because most modern day mythoi habituate a fear of death (relieving consumer suffering makes for a great business model!). :(

#2 I very much agree with you on this moment of intimacy between the son and the father, and I was exactly thinking that when I submitted it, wondering if it is okay to do that. It should probably not have been on Youtube, but I also felt that it was a time of celebration, and if sharing it anywhere, snotr would be a good place to do so...anyways, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts about it..:*

Whilst agreeing a lot with JJ and Thunder i also think our opinions matter not as the original uploader thought it was ok and they are the ones that matter in this video not us. Moving Video.

The circle of life... when he was a kid, his dad probably sang to him...

#6 I think that is a good point, the uploader evidently wants to share this moment with the public and must have felt comfortable doing so, and I agree this is all about them, this is their moment...

#6#8 That's all well and good but the uploader (likely the guy playing the guitar, the son) was only one of the two people featured in this video! this is a point of dignity.

#10 That is a valid point as well actually, since the father could not consent to the upload, unless he consented when he was still able to, however it's unlikely that happened. It's what we call an "ethical dilemma"...they are very common and we encounter them quite often in my field of work, especially with end of life issues. It's good to talk about it.

#10 You are only surmising that it was only the son who put it up. He could have shown this to 20 family members who all agreed to post it or any number of people or yes he may have just done of his own back but it is his dad,his choice. Someone felt comfortable to post it so ultimately ...It is none of our business.

i kind of feel the same as JJ which rarely occurs, except on the best version of the song (i have trouble with Skaggs's hair :) )

I think I end up siding with the Scotsman only because we really don't know, as Scot says, under what circumstances the video was uploaded, and it's not really our business what the family's intention was, in the meantime the video is here for us to enjoy..of course at the same time I really do understand the concerns of the other comments as well, there is no really easy clear-cut answer...good conversation!

Well maybe this will be the final comment on this subject, all I will say is that my opinion hasn't changed. I think the test of any video on Snotr is 1) Has anyone put it into their favourites list, I doubt it. 2) Contrary to Thunders comment at #14 above, Can anyone say they actually enjoy it? 3) The big Question Would you want to watch it again? I wouldn't. <3

#15 Well, that would be one way to test the popularity of a video on snotr, I agree....but the question wasn't so much how entertaining the video was, but if it was okay to be posted due to its intimate content, which, I admit, I have conflicting opinions about it...
