#1 I agree...
I so agree with what he's saying, there is way too much weight on a guy still to this day. It's old school, it comes from way back hundreds of years ago, when women were not in the work force, and were dependent on a guy to pick up their tab, that totally made sense then, but those times are long gone, women work and sometimes make more money than the guy, how rude from a woman to expect a guy to pay for everything. I think it should be 50/50, unless otherwise agreed upon..

Occupational retraining? Meanwhile, Frank T.J. Mackey is in the ballroom next door perpetuating the problem.

If men pay for food and everything, why should women get equal pay? ;P
Okay that was meant as a humorous anecdote All for equality and such. But it also breaks down old habits and standards as #2 pointed out.
I've had the luck of going out with women who insist that they pay for their own drinks even if you WANT to be gentleman and offer to pay theirs, some cases that's even annoying if the woman is just trying to prove a point and that they can pay for themselves. Much more fun to offer and pay and see if they offer to get the next round ^^

Damn girls, they want gender equality and courteousness at the same time..
As Oscar Wilde wrote in "The Sphinx Without A Secret" : women are meant to be loved, not to be understood .

I think the "treat them as if they were your best friend" is a really poignant point. That is the end objective anyway, yes? Well done.

#3 Maybe "you" need to shut up instead..
#6 Yeah, I agree with you too, women should be sensitive to that too, that a guy may want to pay, and they should not insist on paying and take that pleasure away from him, but just invite him to the next round...just being a little in tune, it's not that hard, ladies!
#7 Unfortunately you are right, many of my young female co-workers want it all, not fair for a guy, but also many guys apparently don't seem to mind..

I guess the complication here if there is one, is who asked who out. In my day it was generally the guy apparently this has changed somewhat now. I was very surprised a number of years ago when I separated from my Ex after a long marriage, going out with a group of work colleagues and my new found freedom, after a meal and too much red wine, we went to a late night bar come nightclub (my first one for over twenty years) now okay I had made the effort, new clothes, chosen for me by my secretary actually. But within five minutes of entering the bar a woman on the dance floor (a cute younger than me woman) near where I standing asked me if she could buy me a drink. I was both amazed, surprised, shocked and of course flattered. Twenty or so years earlier that would have not happened even when I would then have been definitely on the pull.
I'm generally happy to pay in social situations but I totally agree I would have little respect for a woman who didn't offer and would likely agree if she felt awkward not doing. I have no respect whatsoever for women who are clearly digging for gold. Love and peace everyone, love and peace.
