Yep, flyin down the I-10 freeway. That would have been awesome to witness.

Side note- too many drivers driving while videoing. :(

An interesting tidbit I learned quite a few years ago, the engines are so large (mass) that the operating range is very low from several hundred to low 1,000 rpm. Contrast that with the F1 cars that run into the 20,000 rpm range.

Great piece of engineering! Marvelous!

Only the Marty McFly and Doc Brown are missing in this video! Thanks CorpseGrinder!

I'm a bit jealous to these drivers in highway.

#15 Yeah they did the same thing when they moved the #4014 big boy loco a couple of years ago. I think for that one they hooked up an air compressor to the whistle so they could blow it as they went along....

i must say it hurts me to see this paradox, we allow a 1927 machine to go faster then a modern car, let's say it's really old .. it's from ... 1981 and can stop in only 80m from 60mph-0 because of old brakes.. this thing can't even stop in a mile !

please forget about speed limits on motorways , make people going 40 in school zones suffer put them under Chinese water torture but let us go faster then 80/130 on motorways

or forbid cars that can go over speed limits , put VW/GM/TOYOTA/Ferrari/BMW and other chairman to jail .. leave us alone!
