The World's Fastest Lotus?
Frank Profera has spent six years making his Lotus go faster, stop shorter, and corner harder. Though it only has to move around 2,150 lbs, Frank's Lotus makes 680 wheel horsepower with a twin-charged 1.8L engine; giving it a better power-to-weight ratio than Mario Andretti's Formula One Lotus. It's an ongoing project that may never be finished, because of Frank's never-ending obsession with speed. We had to take it for a ride.

I really never understood why do some people need a fastest car. I can understand for the design but not the speed.
If you want to go fast from a point to another, you can pass you private pilot license. It will cost far far less, you will even get there faster and you will have time to enjoy the view.

The car is beautiful, love the colors, the speed is exhilarating, but jail?...No thanks!

#7 well, if you obtain pilot's license you'll have even lesser thrill because there are no obstacles over there and you are flying around 200kmh through air alone.. it's nice but you'll need a jet or an acrobatic plane to compare , sports licence and cessna just won't compare
as for your question, it's to get from one point to another it's for the ride
if you really want to know what it is about go to your local kartodrome for a ride

I believe he has his math a little off. 2150 lbs divided by 700 hp equals 3.07 lbs per horsepower.
The Hennessy Venom GT weighs 2743 lbs and has 1244 hp which comes out to 2.20 lbs per horsepower.
Frank's little Lotus is a very quick car but I think they have overstated its performance a bit.

#12 Nice link and some real improvement to his car. Many people don't know that the Hennessey GT Venom is based on the Lotus Exige and the new model weighs in at 2743 lbs and has 1451 hP ,which equates to 1.9 pounds per horsepower. It has been clocked at over 270 mph.

When you first learned to drive and experienced that rush of freedom...its not just about the speed but that elusive feeling of pushing yourself a bit further than you can handle...Sometimes the limit of which you can push the speed on your car depends on how sturdy your balls are...the total focus on the road, and the world just melts away...
