# 4 Actually just the opposite is the case. On a stock-length bike, when you’re trying to climb a steep hill, it can be challenging to keep the bike from wheeling and wanting to flip over backwards. It’s just physics. By making the wheelbase longer by lengthening the swingarm , you change the primary leverage ratio and the machine will be more planted to the ground, and it will be much easier to keep the front end down. Why else would you think they do it?
