The World Is Slowly Running Out Of Sand

I never thought of sand as a non-renewable resource, but there's only a limited supply: and to make things worse, it keeps getting washed into the sea. At Cape May, New Jersey, the US Army Corps of Engineers have just finished rebuilding a beach: here's why.

Question: The Romans 'apparently' used concrete...they ( as far as I know ) didn't have the technology to do the type of dredging for sand as in this video...so where did they get the sand from?

#1 The Romans used volcanic ash,or "pit sand" ,in their mixture. It is actually more durable than most modern concrete.

Why don't they just take the sand from Shite beaches like Skegness or Bournmouth or Russia. 8-)
