(The location is 1 hour from where I live.) It looks obvious (judging by the snow) that temperatures were already above zero celsius -> snow melting and not stable on steep terrain.

My opinion : really stupid decision to go off-piste in this area with such risky snow conditions. I hope the guy learned his lesson, because if didn't he might not get that lucky next time...

Avalanches are occasionally triggered by unfortunate (or lucky) and careless adventurers. Like this one.
