Now that's what I call ART...none of this pretentious crap you often see in art galleries...like a Pineapple.

When I go to Galleries now I take a felt tipped pen and name the unnamed painting's, Here's a list from April I'm sure you will have seen some of them :-

1) Piece of shite laying on a pavement
2) $1.2 mil The artist saw you coming you moron.
3) Four year old's scribble
4) what I use to get excess paint off my brush
5) Some idiot is going to pay good money for this and it only took me 28 seconds
6) 33 seconds by above artist
7) 45 seconds you might be noticing a pattern here but that's purly by accident
8) Ring.........left by my coffee cup while thinking what to paint
9) White horizontal line That's all I could think of today
10) Red horizontal line Today I feel inspired
11) Splashes of colour, must move the sink further away from my easel
12) Pooh on canvas must move my toilet nearer to my easel
13) OMG I hope this painting doesn't appear on a list at number 13....AAAAHHH!!

Art can be so much more than just pretty. It can be much more than just about the installation or the painting itself, but rather what it means to the recipient or what it symbolizes. Of course you can ridicule that, but sometimes it gives us a new perspective on a topic, makes us think outside the box.

Sure, there is a lot of artists exploiting this by just splashing some color on the screen, but if you take a dive into modern art you will find a lot more than you expect.

I agree with #5, art is an expression, that can have many forms, canvas, wood, marble, music...etc, it is not limited to a naturalistic oil painting, if that was the case we could just take a photo. A naturalistic oil painting or pencil drawing shows that the artist has a good eye and can observe well, and there is nothing wrong with that, but that is only one aspect of art, there is so much more to it. The trick is to stay open minded when you see the unusual, and there could be a thousand ways to depict or illustrate a pineapple.
