Generally lightning striking a car does not matter, but if a window was open, or the passengers touched any metal parts, that's a different story.

Yep statistically one of the safest places to be if struck by lightening. Although If driving in Russia during a lightening storm the safest place is probably to shelter under a tree without the car. >:)
