Why it is so great when it happens in US continent? It is just normal solar eclipse, and orbit of the Mun and Earth dictates which part of the world see's the full version. It has nothing to do with any country or continent in Earth.

Of course 40% of Americans will disbelieve this explanation, preferring the God Pushers the Moon (with a stick) in front of the Sun in readiness for the second coming idea. 100% of Muslims will no doubt have another stupid theory and the scientologists will say it's the lizard leader sheading his skin. Apologies for all the other religions left out here but I'm busy worshiping the red wine god with Kate Crab the goddess of all crustaceans.8-)

#2 That's exactly what happened in some parts.......and you're right #1, it was a solar eclipse, not an American eclipse. ;)
