Actually the cameras fps only needed to be 1/5 of the rotors one.

Is it even possible to think that a helicopter can be kept up without the rotors spinning? Read the comment and u'll understand how it's done.

#7 Not quite 1/5 as it's not necessarily the same rotor blade at each position from one frame to the next. The rotor is turning through an exact multiple of 72 degrees with each frame.

So to be completely geeky: The camera FPS only needs to be x/y of the rotor RPM, where x and y are integers and y is a multiple of 5.

something that is more accessible to the average human being is setting up a strobe in your room and setting the frequency to the rpm of your fan. that way your fan looks like its off and you can coax people to put their hand through :P
