I bet the male cat was neutered, that's basically how it looks at that point. The male cat *may* try to mount the female even if they are neutered but it's more like an instinct than anything else and is not very common.

Gold digger sure , 40 second in she shows her true colours , spends all that time begging for it then the second he goes for it she almost takes his eye out and then goes back to teasing him , obviously she knows this cat has a massive hoard of laser pointers and treats back at home and is just trying to break up his other wise purfect family.
