His book Scapegoat, the extraordinary legal proceedings following the 1917 Halifax Explosion has won the following awards: 2016 John Lyman Book Award ("Canadian Naval and Maritime History), 2015 Bronze IPPY Award & 2014 Dartmouth Book Award for Non-Fiction.

There is two different stories about this. Woman #1 link told that pressure caused the secondary state explosives to explode. And then i have seen discovery document where there was one compartment with primary explosive containing artillery shells.
As we know secondary explosives can be only set of by other explosion. No fire, spark, electricity or pressure of fire will ignite them. Primary explosives will go off from electricity, spark, fire.
