ATM skimming team at work
Two Romanian men, Emil Revesz and Constantin Pendus, were caught on surveillance video in December 2012 after the two men, working as part of a large ring operating across the metropolitan area, installed a skimmer and camera on an ATM at the TD Bank in Barnegat,NJ.
They each pleaded guilty in federal court in Newark before U.S. District Judge William J. Martini, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said.

It appears you have to scan some sort of ID in order to get in. Not their first clue they may get caught?!

I'm sure the ATM's could be designed in a way that prevents this kind of thing happening. I suggested a few years ago that they have some kind of a mechanical changing fascia so that nothing could be attached to the front or a constantly changing coloured fascia that would show up any attachment. Better still like this one, have the camera connected to the ATM and immediately shut the fecking thing down.
