#1 Can't be because they would need to collide several thousand times before they got it right.

#1 The conditions would have to be so precise that it borders on impossible, ie. extremely improbable. The galaxies would have to be travelling at the same velocity toward each other, in exact polar opposite directions with their centers aligned, have (roughly) the same mass, structure, configuration, spin, and the gorgeous woman that lives 2 doors down would have to ask me out for dinner. You see how bloody unlikely that is?

#1 Galaxies are mostly empty space. Andromeda and Milkyway will affect each other more by gravity than direct hits. That will happen in about 4 000 000 000 years. Before that time Earth will be toast due to the Sun's expansion.
