Punking is great, that really shows a great family communication at one level. If you have asked for something specific, I think that is a bit off and spoils the whole point. The great gift giving is that someone knows you enough that they get something that is thoughtful. But then to be ungrateful when receiving it does not really seem right albeit the wrong version.
