That's not a difficult driving mistake to make at all. The driver is not expecting to be overtaken by a cyclist, and the cyclist is pretty much in the driver's blind spot as the driver initiates pulling over. It definitely does not deserve the cussing out/name calling. That is not appropriate at all. Shouting 'On your right!!' is what would have been appropriate. Cyclists must understand that overtaking cars on the right is risky. Period.

I'm all for bicyclists, but in this case the car was already so far to the right, for whatever unknown reason, why, as a bicyclist would you squeeze yourself into that spot too..8-)

#6 because they're poor riders and not riding defensively.

#5 I'm a cyclist generally riding 3500 - 4k miles per year. In this case I agree with you 100% that there was a lot of unnecessary drama. However, often cars overtake a cyclist and then turn into them. It's called the Right Hook and is one of the most dangerous situations for cyclists. This just happened to me last year. Luckily I had a hunch what he was going to do and was kind of prepared for it but it was still quite an event. Cyclists (especially the annoying spandex ones) are much faster than you think and if you overtake one, please check to make sure they haven't caught up with you. We agree cyclists also need to take responsibility for their safety and not ride in a the driver's blindspot. It's best to enter an intersection behind the vehicle until it's clear they are proceeding straight. Thank you. :)
