I don't mind in the slightest that Foxy got this video on Snotr, even though I was sent an almost identical version by a doctor friend of mine a few months ago and posted it to Snotr back then lol.

It does make you think though doesn't it, kind of makes a nonsense out of everything we are hearing on the news. My friend is quite an authority on the subject and tells me an awful lot of what we are being told is rubbish. He does think the Earth is a Triangle though, which is a bit worrying, trouble is he showed me his evidence and it's compelling :D:D:D:D:D

The heartland institute which is presenting these scientist is known for its climate change denial.
Of course you should listen to their arguments and measure them against the measured facts.

The problem with their argument is that they are partially true but not really talking about the measured facts.
If you talk about climate change scientist are talking about periods of 10000 years. And now the temperature is rising in a period of 100 years which is about 100 times faster.

I have not heard a convincing argument why the temperature is rising so fast from these scientist.
That the temperature was warmer millions of years ago is true but can not be applied to the current period of time.

Not going to waste more time on this. These scientist are no climate Einsteins I'm sorry to say!

its great they use the climate millions ago for example with todays climate. but we didnt exist then.
we live in a period of earth's time, where it is habitable for humans or any other form of life.
we are not destroying the earth, it will exist even if global warming goes to the max, but we are destroying the conditions for life on earth that exist today.
while they laugh and smudge, telling the public about those reports.
lets compare the amount of sea life, plastic levels in oceans, diversity of species, unaltered plantlife, deforestation, natural drinkwater,
contaminated soil, radiation levels, extinct species, polluted areas, and much more
lets see if they can still laugh then....

#3 damn right. These guys seem drunk on their little bit of air time - or perhaps it's the pay checks they're receiving from Trump and friends hoping to sweep the real debates under the carpet.

Either way, I take these guys arguments with a pinch of salt.

Quick wiki search:

The Heartland Institute has been funded by Oil and Gas companies, receiving, for example, 800 000$ dollars from ExxonMobil in 2008.

It is currently no longer disclosing it's funding sources.

#8 It's interesting that you focus on a casual religion-oriented reference by one of the professors, because the whole of the anthropogenic climate change hysteria has an air of religious dogma about it, and the belligerent reaction from Climate Change Believers to anyone who challenges their doctrine, closely mimics the aggressive backlash often encountered by atheists who dare to question the beliefs of god-fearing zealots.

Can someone find me any scientific source on climate change denial not funded by heartland?

How come we are getting lied to by the unbiased, but those funded by the oil industry are the ones that telling us the truth?

Honestly i‘d love an answer to those questions.

Here's a bone to chew on for explanation of why climate is changing so fast now. And by the way, it has nothing to do with us humans. In other words we do not affect climate very much. Earth's magnetic field is weakening in the past 350 years and that weakening is exponentially accelerating in the last decade or so. Our magnetic poles are shifting. There was a book in 1960' that was classified by CIA because it was explaining in detail what's going on. The book is called The Story of Adam and Eve by Chan Thomas. You can watch some commentary about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvjJqIXYT1w

i am really getting tired of conspiracies.. why can't the logical explanation be the one.. why do you always think you are smarter then the rest of us? who and why is hiding the true data.. how much money does that mistery person spend on fake data. How does he get the money for his mission? Please don't say Soros. What is his motif?
Do you really think that earth is so human proof .. that whatever we do to it there are no consequences?
we wiped out thousands of animal species, huge areas of forest, we pollute everything we can.. and kill the rest..

#9 #11 go outside, travel, meet people, listen to them, read.. visit China and Cambodia factories, Visit Kenia, go to Israel... see for yourself.

Haven’t you heard: there is that place where our intellectual elite gathers to discuss why those people who have been the best in school, the best in university have studied their specific topic for decades are totally wrong. And guess what, our superelites only needed to read a single article on a conspiracy website.

That place is snotr.

Wish i could be as smart as you guys, that after reading a single piece of information by some source noone has ever heard before i was bulletproof sure how the world works. Sure you only need one person and what looks scientific to disproof the consensus of hundreds of thousands scientists who each dedicated years on finding out how our climate works.

#12 No need to make assumptions about me and what I might believe or not. You don't know me, and I don't know you. I only posted a link to another point of view on the topic. Personally I have no idea what the truth about the climate is. However if you believe you do, then be prepared that you might be wrong. Reality have a tendency to disregard what we people think and believe.

The point of view I posted simply states that since earth magnetic field is weakening that means that our "defense" against solar radiation is also weakening. Hence the earth is receiving more energy from the Sun and therefore climate change.

And yes, us humans "f**k up" earth big time by destroying flora and fauna and creating huge amounts of trash and pollution. However that is not the main or only cause for climate change as mainstream science would have us think. In fact, it is probably many levels of magnitude lesser that what the Sun can throw at us at any moment.

Be open to the possibility that mainstream science is not always right. Often it is, but not always. With an attitude of "I know" or "we know" or "science knows", you usually close yourself to seeing what is actually happening right in front of your nose.

But, you're of course free to believe whatever you wish. Either you blindly believe what you're told, or you look for yourself.

The heartland institute is an ultra right wing think tank that pimps itself out to the worst US Industries.
The nickname for this institute is "The Merchants of Doubt"
They specialize in FUD (sowing Fear Uncertainty and Doubt)
It was the leading propagandist for the tobacco claiming there was no link between smoking and lung cancer.
Working for Phillip Morris, Brown and Williamson etc
It has waged war on the FDA and the EDA for decades.
It also backed the tea party movement.
Today they are a leading climate change denial promoter.
In 2008, the Institute made up and published a list purporting to identify "500 Scientists with Documented Doubts of Man-Made Global Warming Scares". When those scientists asked to have their names removes from the list the institute's then president, Joseph Bast, argued that the scientists "have no right—legally or ethically—to demand that their names be removed" from Heartland's list.
It is a despicable "Gun for hire" for the worst corporations operating in the US.
Normally professional - they have big money bankrolling them, this video is appalling badly scripted produced and acted.
No scientists would behave like this.
I cannot believe that the submitter was fooled by this, so I can only conclude he or she has an agenda.
Have a look at some of their previous clients perjuring themselves.

LOL. My turn: Climb mountains, live outside your home country for half of your working life, learn 2 foreign languages, meet people and explore foreign cultures, travel throughout Europe, Asia and the far east, backpack around Australia, write a book and get it published, learn to fly and get your private pilot's licence, have sex with a hot chick in a hot air balloon... try it yourself.

#15 However it is you who seems to be acting as though science is your god. Science is only a tool. Treat it as such and you'll notice that just like any tool it can be used for both good and evil, for uncovering the truth and to hide and deceive (just like #16 is pointing out)... In other words... don't blindly believe everything that you hear and most of all don't assume anything. If you assume you're making an ASS of U and ME. :)

And since you seem to be tired of conspiracies I'll delight you with information that worldwide there are countless various groups large and small with their own more or less secret agendas who conspire every single waking moment and act on it. Have fun :)

from dictionary:

conspire
verb [ I ] UK ? /k?n?spa??r/ US ? /k?n?spa?r/
?
to plan secretly with other people to do something bad, illegal, or against someone's wishes:

He felt that his colleagues were conspiring together to remove him from his job.
As girls, the sisters used to conspire with each other against their brother.

#17 Climb mountains - checked (ok 4000m isn't the Everest but i'm proud), live outside your home country for half of your working life - i like it here too much - come see for yourself :) learn 2 foreign languages - checked, meet people and explore foreign cultures -checked, travel throughout Europe, Asia and the far east -checked, backpack around Australia - on my list, write a book and get it published - do published buildings count?, learn to fly and get your private pilot's licence - 8 more flying hours to go in an old cessna 172K , have sex with a hot chick in a hot air balloon - does the airliner toilet count?

You are right ,it's never too late to backpack! (or rent a funky campervan)

#18 you are also right - my wife is probably plotting sth against me with kids at the moment!

#16 " The Institute advocates for hydraulic fracturing (aka fracking), a well-stimulation technique in which rock is fractured by pressurized liquids, publishing essays in support of fracking in various national newspapers. On March 20, 2015, Heartland's science director defended hydraulic fracturing on the Your World With Neil Cavuto program on Fox News.

P.S. The Institute no longer discloses its funding sources, stating that it had ended its practice of donor transparency after experiencing the organized harassment of its donors ;)

poor donors

If the climate hucksters didn't look so bad they'd be much more believable. A fair amount of push back should always be done concerning matters where a group of people want to take a lot of money to supposedly solve some problem.

You can change people's minds slowly with succinct information, but when your predictions are so far out of reality it hurts your cause. I get needing famous people to forward your cause but when they go out of bounds (AOC claiming we've got 12 years), you'd look more credible if you discounted their hyperbole.

Sure, you can use grossly overstated scare tactics but some folks aren't moved by that. Try being more reasonable and believable.
Picture of ughlah41 achievements

+3 21. ughlah commented 5 years ago

There is the main problem. What you believe os based on your knowledge and we both know you are far from being an expert on any matter. You read other peoples beliefs and get confirmed.

But that won’t change the facts on any topic out there. Thats why we are in dire need for the scientific method: test, publish, review, critism, repeat. If a consensus is reached after hundreds of thousands of papers on the topic the chances are slim they are not right, even if it feels counterintuitive, even if church says the earth is 12000 years old, even if the earth feels flat, even if the temperature in your hometown is around the same as it was when you were a little kid.

In the end it does make a significant change if your body temperature is 41 or 39. The latter is a mild fever, the first means you are dead.

#22 Thanks, Natan, good video!
He makes a very good point. It proves the point of prevention and reducing risks. It's like preventive medicine. You undergo preventive diagnostics to avoid the possible disastrous result of illness and death. The money spent on that kind of medicine might be money down the drain, but if something materializes you have a huge chance to get a grip on it.

This video is old, and by now all the scientific evidence points even more to anthropogenic causes, but I know we already discussed that, and I know many in current politics are not into science. But regardless of the cause, this development still needs attention. The predictions of extreme and severe weather around the globe are already happening, and will most likely intensify.
Picture of snotraddict45 achievements

-1 24. snotraddict commented 5 years ago

#23 money spent doesn't mean safety from the boogie man (Pascal's Mugging). There's always a cost/benefit ratio that must be weighed.

"scientific evidence points" somewhere I read or heard more than half of papers published are eventually debunked so in general there is much to be doubted.

"The predictions of extreme and severe weather around the globe..." You mean when Gore said hurricanes like Katrina will be the "new normal" back in 2005?

Like our previous governor (CA) blaming fires on global warming when 85% are man made and caused by bad infrastructure the state can't seem to fix even though we have the highest energy costs?

We were all predicted to be dead by now from predictions of the 1970's. ;)
