How are we supposed to feed them? And now Tokyo is 7 times the entire Norway.

I just checked the internets, and for 2017 it shows population for NYC is just under 9 million yet the graph shows almost 19 million?

Thoughts on why the discrepancy? Title shows "Mega Cities" not states.

It seems to include the surroundings. Tokyo is actually 8 cities grown into one melting pot with a lot being counted towards the megacity tokyo.

The same is probably true for most cities on this list.

Perhaps, but the whole state shows 19 million.

Megacity includes the metropolitan areas.
"the city is the center of the New York metropolitan area, the largest metropolitan area in the world by urban landmass[11] and one of the world's most populous megacities,[12][13] with an estimated 19,979,477 people in its 2018 Metropolitan Statistical Area"
