Whenever I see nuns or monks I can't help but think what a fecking waste of life, devoting yourself to something what almost certainly doesn't exist.

#1 There are an infinite variety of things to which different people devote their lives, and from which they gain great fulfillment, music, gardening, mountain climbing, art, stamp collecting, eating, to name just a few. To declare these nuns' particular choice as a ' fecking waste of life' illustrates what a narrow minded and uncultured person you are.

#2 Music, gardening, mountains, art, stamps and eating all exist and there is evidence of them and plenty of it. To spend your life talking to and praising something that can only be reached by faith, when you can have faith in anything, even if it isn't true, is a fallacy. Faith is not a reliable pathway to truth is it. I'm interested in what is true and if you think I am narrow minded and uncultured you are about as far from the truth as you will ever get in your life. I'm very happy to discus this subject with you if you would like to continue this conversation. But think on this, there are countless religions in the world they can't all be true but they could all be wrong, believing in one particular god means you have to not believe in all the others, not doing so can actually get you killed in some societies. Your belief in a god is entirely geographical based on your exposure as a child in the country you were born. It is also time based. If you had been born earlier on in human progression there is a good chance you would have believed in Odin or Thor or the Sun or the Moon.

Generally I have to agree with #1, but on the other hand, as long as they have fulfillment and happiness (and they certainly appear happy), and are not harming others, which they aren't, then more power to them. It wouldn't be for me though. O:)

#1. and #3, you've really embarrassed yourselves. Nuns do a lot of the toughest charity work there is. For free.

Don't worry about their faith. It doesn't affect you (although obviously it threatens you)
