Interesting bridge

Rolling bridge is a unique design by Thomas Heatherwick. When activated, this simple footbridge transforms itself, snake like, into a perfect octagon -- rather resembling a hamster wheel.

Yeah it's totally boring.
Just Stonehenge is more boring. What are those stupid stones good for? They don't even move.

ok guys it may not have a purpose and it may be slow, but it's one fine piece of engineering :)

Guys, i think that what we're missing here is what women call an "artistic perspective".
Basically it's just meant to be pretty; which we don't really get, but hey, who cares.

My first thought was I wonder how hard it would be to roll it to another spot on the channel as a joke but I figure it is well anchored to the ground. It is very slow but cool also.

if it would be going faster it might smack the people off the edge on the other side like a whip when its becoming a bridge.
Beside its just art. i dont think art needs another purpose than beeing interesting.

Please tell me that I'm not the only one that thinks the first half of the clip looks like a bridge getting a hard-on.

@#15 Nah, just you Woll (ya bridge-perv!) ;)

It only curls up at 12:00 on a friday, so it's clearly to stop the staff getting an early finish for the weekend.

#16 great explanation. :D

By the time the bridge curls up the boat TRYING to get through can sail around the world and back.... 2 times, to still make it on the other side of the bridge.

This clip reveals the dangers existant when a simple mind comes up with a simple image of a simple wheel uncoiling to become simply flat . . .wait . . . here it comes . . . WOW a bridge, then reverse-engineered to become something called "art," which required who knows how many thousands of pounds of money belonging to . . . I hope not the public, because this is neither art nor engineering. >:)
